A bread and butter plate that was never really meant for bread and butter. This Wedgwood Blue Jasperware plate, dated 1956 and made in England, has always been destined for something more considered.
Neoclassical Greek mythology figures parade around the entire border in white relief — the kind of quiet, detailed craftsmanship that Wedgwood has maintained since 1774. Stamped on the back: "Wedgwood, Made in England 1956." The powdery blue is the most coveted of all Jasperware colorways.
At 6.75 inches, it's a versatile size — beautiful on a wall, lovely on a shelf, and perfectly proportioned to corral small treasures on a vanity or entryway table. Keys, coins, bracelets, watches, a few rings at the end of the day.
